Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13/10/2026
This website is operated by The Mediterranean Gardener Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.
Who we are
The data controller is The Mediterranean Gardener Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. You can contact us about privacy matters at themedgardener@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
We collect personal data in two main situations.
When you sign up to our email newsletter, we collect your email address, and your name if you give it. We use this to send you our Monthly Garden Checklist and related gardening content. We rely on your consent as the legal basis, and you give that consent by opting in.
When you buy a product, we collect your name, email address, billing details and purchase information. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment provider, PayPal, and we never see or store your full card number. We use this data to process your order and meet our legal obligations, such as tax records. The legal basis here is performance of a contract, and our legal obligations.
We also collect limited technical data, such as your IP address and basic analytics about how the site is used, to keep the site secure and working well. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in running the site.
Who we share it with
We only share data with the services that make the website run. These include our website platform Squarespace, our email provider EmailOctopus, our payment provider PayPal, and, where relevant, Meta’s messaging tools when you contact us through Instagram or Facebook. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their own agreements. We never sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe. We keep sales records for as long as the law requires, which for tax purposes is generally six years.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also contact us directly. If you are in the UK you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. If you are in the EU, you can complain to your local supervisory authority.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to function and to understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
